Phillip Miller has over 35 years of experience in the development and clinical use of mechanical circulatory support devices. One of the original designers of the Novacor® LVAS, the first clinically implanted electromechanical VAD, he has been involved in all aspects of device development and deployment, including design, documentation, manufacturing, in vitro and in vivo evaluation, verification and validation testing, human factors assessment, quality assurance, risk management, protocol development, regulatory submissions and audits, clinical trial setup and support, and data and fault analysis. He was WorldHeart’s Vice President of Research and Development until the 2011 closing of their Oakland office. He is currently providing consulting services to medical device developers. Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
